Our latest interpretation board detailing the important archaeological finds from an Anglo Saxon burial ground in the area of the Saxon Centre which was discovered in the nineteenth century.
This is the third board to be installed at appropriate locations around the town. The others cover the history of the Barracks and the Bedfordshire Regiment on a board installed outside the Barracks in Bedford Road, and a history of Kempston High Street on a board at the War Memorial near Lidl.
The Saxon Centre board was unveiled by Deputy Kempston Mayor, Councillor Carl Meader.
The board has been produced by the Society with assistance from local Borough councillors, The Harpur Trust, Higgins Museum and Kempston Town Council and has been designed by a founding member of the Society, Lloyd Lugsden.
